Policemen had their hands full, pulling over and arresting a local resident on December 27 in Clinton.
Robert L. Elliot, was charged with felony resisting arrest, attempting to flee and creating a substantial risk of serious injury to another person.
Originally charged with operating a motor vehicle in a careless and imprudent manner, and operating a vehicle without a proper license, those additional charges have since been dropped by the office of prosecutor
Richard Shields.
Also, the 24-hour-hold the suspect was placed on, has now resulted in a
$50,000 bond required for his release.
Elliott will make his first appearance before Associate Circuit Judge Harold
Dump at 9 a.m. on Friday, January 7 in the Henry County Courthouse in Clinton.
At press time, Elliot does not have an attorney or public defender.
The suspect will likely have a not guilty plea entered for him, and another hearing scheduled.
Assistance for document filing for a public defender, will also likely be initiated.
Casenet documents show Elliot as having a former address in Sedalia, but arrest records show him with a Clinton residency.
Missouri online sentencing guidelines, show the penalty for felony resisting arrest to be up to four years in the Missouri Department of Corrections, and fines up to $25,000.
Elliott remains in the custody of Sheriff J. Kent Oberkrum, in the Henry County Jail in Clinton.
