I want to share a short story about my experience in Clinton, Missouri this past Sunday afternoon on Halloween. I dont know how many of you know Glen Wesley, but if you dont know him, you should. Mr. Wesley is an honest man, and I am fortunate to have encountered his path.
I was driving through Clinton, Mo on Sunday afternoon, having just returned from my first trade show in Kansas City. I stopped at the Arby's restaurant to eat dinner with my friend, and inadvertently dropped a bank bag with nearly $3,000 in cash.
To make a long story short, I found the staff, and particularly the manager, Jennifer, to exhibit nothing but kindness, helpfulness and compassion after learning of my misfortune. Jennifer was at home with her family, and she took time away from her weekend to drive to Arby's on her day off in order to help me. The incident was completely my fault; I was not paying attention and dropped the bank bag while talking on my cell phone. Despite my carelessness, Jennifer, Glen Wesley and two Clinton, Mo police officers aided and helped me.
Jennifer called the Clinton police department. When Officer Osman and his partner arrived on scene, Officer Osman had my bank bag, with every dollar fully accounted. Glen Wesley found the bag and immediately tracked down law enforcement to ensure it found its rightful owner.
I called Glen Wesley to thank him. He refused to accept any gift from me. He said to me, "wouldn't you do the same for me?" There are great people in the world, that I know. Further, I know that Glen Wesley is one of them. And I know the people of Clinton, Mo should be proud of their Arby's manager, Jennifer. And thank you to the kind police officers, Officer Osman and his partner on scene, who also assisted me that day.
Thank you to Glen Wesley, Jennifer and the Clinton police department. I hope I can soon pay it forward.
Sincerely,
Christopher Swatosh
