Lady Cards Take On Camp At UCM

Posted

The UCM Team Camp ran from Sunday afternoon June 5 to Monday morning, June 6. It was held at the Multi on the UCM campus. The Lady Cards played a total of 11 games and went 6-5. The Lady Cards had 12 girls that were a mixture of varsity and JV players. Coach Womack thought it was good to have a mix of players.
“All the girls were able to get lots of minutes on the court, learning a zone and man defense.” Coach also pointed out the younger ones were learning a new offense.
“They all worked extremely hard with lots of hustle”. It was hard work and a steep learning curve for the younger girls. Coach Womack commented they were often playing against full varsity teams. The Lady Cards played against big schools like Lee’s Summit West with a 6’6” center to Marshall, Archie, and Lawson. They also faced schools out of the St Joe area. Coach Womack thought overall it was a good summer opener. Hard work pays off, right?
