The CHS Lady Cards played the 7-2 Boonville Lady Pirates on Tuesday, Jan. 4. The Lady Cards did not play their best game, too many turnovers, and the Lady Pirates took advantage. The score after the first quarter was 17-11 Pirates. Boonville sank a 3-pointer at the halftime buzzer to go up 10, (31-21). The Cards were led by Briley Wishard with 16 points and Mercedez Brown with 12 but it was not enough. Wishard did a good job going up strong under the basket and earned nine free throws. The Cards had no answer for Boonville’s #14, Addison Brownfield that scored 22 with five 3’s. The Lady Cards 2-3 defense was also not able to stop Boonville’s baseline cutters. The final score was 57-40 Pirates. The Lady Cards are now 4-7 on the season. The CHS JV played an exciting game against Boonville and won 29-25. Sabrina Meloy suffered a lower leg injury during the JV game. The Lady Cards travel to Odessa on Friday, Jan. 7, and to Sedalia on Wed., Jan. 12. Team Stats: (Boonville), Eight 3-pointers and 7 of 11 from the line. The Lady Cards had two 3’s and went 8 of 15 from the line. The Jan. 4 Cardinal wrestling Tri with Harrisonville and Ex. Springs was postponed due to Covid issues.
