Have I Got A Line For You!

Posted

It was a pleasant weekend with stops at Lub Dub in Sedalia and the wine stroll in Warsaw. Both places were jam packed on Saturday, but the traffic count in town (by observation only) seems to be down a bit. Probably due to gas prices. Somewhere, in a comfortable back room, a couple of our country’s power figures may be sitting back and deciding what the next price hike will be. Sometimes my imagination goes out of bounds. I’m certain this couldn’t be possible. No indeed!

Brace yourselves. President Biden’s Disinformation Board is on the way. It will be headed by Russia expert Nina Jankowicz. Might as well call it Ministry of Propaganda & Public Enlightenment. I recall a country in Europe trying it in the 1930’s. It’s amazing how fast we went from an energy independent Republic with borders, to a land mass under authoritarian rule. Some folks mocked The Donald for his conspiracy theories but it turns out, much of it was the truth. Why not take a few commonly accepted facts like 50 year high inflation, record gas prices, food prices, border chaos, out of control crime and have our new Truth Tsar declare them nothing but disinformation. That should fix all of our problems. We keep hearing that we need to protect Ukraine from tyranny and propaganda, who’s going to come and save us? What a crazed world we live in.

Let’s leave the tawdry subject of politics and switch to something else. One of the highlights of the weekend was getting to see Cousin Craig Bourne. He just returned from a trip to Santa Fe, in the mountains where it clouds up around 2:00 PM every day, but seldom rains. It’s a town that’s old, old old…probably some of it was there when the Pilgrims arrived. Early history books never mention that, but most were written by New Englanders. People who thought Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was “way out west.”

The morning zips along. Have a safe trip through your day old buddy.
