Have I Got A Line For You!

The disappearance of a Texas National Guard soldier in the Rio Grande was a terrible thing to happen. Specialist Bishop Evans went missing while trying to rescue two illegal migrants who appeared to be drowning while crossing the river. The two illegal’s were drug traffickers and survived. But he saw two human beings in distress and jumped in to save them. I don’t think it would have mattered if he knew what they were involved in. Some folks are just heroes at heart and Specialist Evans was hero. Many believe that the cartel got him. I don’t recall hearing anything from the President on this, or did I miss that one? Instead of worrying about drug smuggling and human trafficking we’re concerned with pronouns and electric cars. All the deceased bodies from the southern border ought to be trucked to D.C. Something has to be done or these tragedies will continue. Maybe we should move to jus sanguinis citizenship instead of jus soli.

Here’s something I didn’t know. There’s a massive Antarctic exploration vehicle lost somewhere at the bottom of the world. It was built in Chicago and last seen in 1958. The snow cruiser was designed to explore the arctic and be self contained for one year. Inside were living quarters for a crew of five and a Labrador Husky who went along for the ride. The cruiser carried 5,000 gallons of diesel for itself and 1,000 gallons for the plane carried on its roof. Things didn’t work out and the contraption only made it 98 feet before getting bogged down in the snow and was abandoned. A big chunk of the Ross Ice Shelf where it was parked broke off, so who knows where it sits now. But it did make an appearance in Clive Cussler’s book ‘Atlantis Found’ where they fired it up and saved the world from evil doers. It’s funny looking back on these over the top ideas. They never quite work out, but worth doing, aren’t they?

Aunt Jane called last night and the subject drifted to the world before Truman Lake came in. She talked about the old road you took to get from Deepwater to Brownington. For a time the old Brownington Bridge could still be seen in the water as it was cut into three pieces when being taken out. Brownington is an old, old village and the Friscoe Railroad went through it to Kansas City back in those days. The village was originally called Connsville for Captain Consalus who settled there early on. Small as it was, Brownington once had a drug store, bank and funeral home. I still think it would be a good place to hide out if things go from bad to worse. Like a socialist takeover or invasion by China. Or big rocks falling out of the sky, you never know.
