Have I Got A Line For You!

Here's another swell idea. The Mayor of New York City says people entering a restaurant, gym or movie theatre will need to show a "Vaccine Passport." If you have to show your vax papers to have a normal life, how about requiring proof of ID to vote? Bet grocery stores are next and before they know it, New Yorkers will be denied entry to any establishment if they owe taxes or have a parking ticket. Where will this end?  Our old planet is a chaotic place these days. I believe there is a force of evil in this world, a very real presence with a capital E. It sometimes sweeps through a country and seeps under our doorways. But good people can fight it and LIGHT can overcome darkness, though it sometimes takes time.  Thankfully were right here in Missouri with good people who volunteer and lots of common sense from Republicans and Democrats who work through these situations. YOU BET!

Our elected officials are hard at work on a 2700 page infrastructure bill complete with 66 billion for Amtrak and money for pollinator friendly plants along highways. UNBELIEVABLE!  What else is in this bill, an underwater playground for dolphins? Nothing against bees, but is it really smart to draw them to the interstate? No one rides Amtrak. If they did, Amtrak wouldn't need constant bailouts. Janet Yellin says she cannot pay the countries bills unless the debt ceiling is raised in September. How can this bill be justified? Our politicians have raided Social Security and can't replace those funds. Hard times are ahead if they go forward with this back breaking expense for pollinator flowers.  This situation reminds me of the saying, "When members of a democracy realize they can steal from themselves (deficit spending) the country is doomed."   Lord save us from James C. Davis...and a bunch of other stuff out to get us too.

Speaking of politics, my Dad was an ardent Democrat and attended the inauguration of Lyndon Johnson along with my mother, Aunt Jane and Uncle Conboy. Great grandmother Lydia Neill White was a delegate the Democratic National Convention so was Grandma White and Aunt K.N. Miles. I was about seven or eight years old when Dad took me to the Community Building in Warsaw and showed me the big paper ballot.  He told me to put an X under the name Carter. I rebelled and marked the candidate under the elephant (Ford). The place was filled with voters. Some were Dad's Republican friends and they enjoyed this thoroughly, especially Marilyn Drake. Enough of this reminiscing. I've been immersed in politics since birth. Local, state and national.

Have a good day wherever this finds you old buddy. Meanwhile, the moon still shines down on us. I doubt the Old Man is even shaking his head at the moment. He's seen far worse things before than our present situation.

P.S. A tip of the hat to Ruth Jackson at R-Bar who 's making some of the best cherry and apple pies I've had since Aleta Walker hung up her apron at the Hotel Cafe.
