HAROLD WAYNE SAPP

Harold Wayne Sapp, age 91, passed away Tuesday, June 1st, 2021 at Clinton Healthcare and Rehabilitation in Clinton, Missouri.
Born August 13, 1929, in Montrose, Missouri, he was the son of George Walker Sapp and Katie Viola Shoemaker Sapp.
On July 2, 1949, Harold married Juanita “Pat” Louise Young. Pat preceded him in death May 11, 1968. On November 12, 1970, Harold married W. Naomi Farar.
Harold lived in the Clinton area his entire life. He was an active Shriner, and member of the Masonic Lodge #548 in Clinton, and the “infamous” Shrine club Mini-Rods. Harold was a member of the 1st Presbyterian Church in Clinton. Harold was elected to the Clinton City Council in 1979, and served the 4th Ward until 1985. Harold worked for Beatrice Food Co., servicing Clinton and the surrounding areas with Meadow Gold dairy products and making many friends. Other business ventures included the old Colonial Arms Apartments, and the Countryside sub-division in Clinton.
He retired from Beatrice in 1972, and purchased the Clinton Cabinet Shop. After 20 years building and installing custom cabinets, Harold sold the business and he and Naomi began a leisurely life of traveling the continent in their RV, enjoying their summers at their lake house on Coffman Bend, and their winters at their retirement village property in Mesa, Arizona.
Harold was known as a practical joker of the highest caliber. His longtime friend and sometimes business partner, Tom Skaggs, tells of many pranks that he was a victim of including: Harold dumping a truck load of sawdust from his cabinet shop onto Tom’s front yard. And while traveling together, Harold once replaced Tom’s Listerine mouthwash with whiskey! There was another story that, while on a pheasant hunting trip in Kansas, someone turned up the heat all the way up inside one of the hunting cabins while the occupants were to be gone all day. Harold was immediately the prime suspect. Harold’s life was full and I believe he enjoyed it all. There were sad times, but he seemed to be able to push forward and find something to laugh about, in about every situation. He loved to meet new people, and he loved to be with his old friends, of which he had many. He will be missed.
Also preceding him in death is his two brothers, Raymond Sapp of Montrose, and Howard Sapp of Deepwater, and a daughter Barbara Faye Dean of Wellington, Missouri.
He is survived, in addition to his loving wife, Naomi, by a sister, Marjorie Williams of Raytown, Missouri, 2 daughters; Sandra Kay (Wayne Thomas) Phillips of Stockdale, Texas, and Sharla K. (Richard) Porter of Mesa, Arizona, one Son; Fred J. (Linda) Morgan of Flagstaff, Arizona. Harold and Naomi have 11 grandchildren, and 15 great grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held June 9, 2021 at the Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton with Rev. Nancy Gillard officiating. Special music included “Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art and Old Rugged Cross.” Tom Skaggs, Sr and Darrel Sapp were honorary bearers. Inurnment was held June 10, 2021 in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
