Robin Wells
Birthplace: Clinton
Years in Clinton: My whole life, except for 2 years in Warrensburg and 2 1/2 years in Columbia.
Family: My husband, Richard, and I have been married for 35 years. Richard was a teacher and then Director of the Clinton Technical School. He retired as Superintendent of Montrose Schools. We have 3 grown sons, Andrew, Justin & Garrison. We also have a daughter-in-law, Jillian, and 2 grandsons, Cooper and Carter.
Occupation: I was the Office Manager for Cover Law Office/Cover & Hilton Law Office for almost 30 years before completely changing gears and going to work as an Administrative Assistant at Henry Elementary School, where I've worked for 4 years.
Education: I graduated from Clinton High School in 1982. I attended UCM for 2 years after high school graduation before accepting a job in Columbia, Missouri.
Favorite Childhood Memory: I have so many childhood memories! The first is when my mom's aunt came to our house with a station wagon full of puppies and Sherri and I got to pick out our favorite. We picked a black and white puppy with brown eyebrows and white tip on his tail and we named him Tippy! My Grandad and Grandma Albin would drive over to our house and Tippy would hop in the car with them and Grandma would give him Dentyne cinnamon chewing gum - he loved it! He was also notorious for sitting by the patio door in cold weather and fake shivering if anyone looked his way because he wanted to come inside. He was with us for 8 years. I also have so many great memories of growing up with my cousin's on my mom's side - we spent lots of time together running around the Thrush area (outside Calhoun)!
First Job: I worked after school, Monday-Friday, at a local insurance company stuffing envelopes.
Favorite Bands: 38 Special & REO Speedwagon
What do you value most in your friends? I don't get to spend much time with my friends, but I love that when we are able to get together, it feels like we just saw each other yesterday!
Hobbies: Reading, making scrapbooks.
I hope I never have to: bury a child.
I have never been able to: Whistle! My dad is the best whistler and he has tried to teach me, to no avail!
Most embarrassing moment? I was at a Christmas party at the Rotary building, looked down and I had on one brown shoe and one black shoe.
If I won the lottery, I would: Pay off our bills and our kids' bills, build a new house, buy new vehicles for the whole family, and travel. I hope I win a huge amount!!!
Future goal: Travel, travel, travel!
What is the best thing about living in Clinton? I know so many people since I've lived here my whole life! I am fortunate to have grown up here and raised my kids here.
What is your greatest fear? Having dementia or Alzheimer's and not being able to watch my grandkids grow up.
Who do you admire the most: My parents and grandparents. I grew up with great examples of how to live life and love your family.
Words to live by: My Grandpa Strong always said, "Live life to the fullest!"
