Clinton Soccer Finding Success In September

Posted

After starting the season with an 0-3 start, Cardinals soccer has righted the ship with a gritty effort, first with back-to-back wins in the first and semi-final rounds of the Clinton Invitational Cup against Green Ridge and Paseo Academy, which saw the team punch their ticket to a championship showdown against St. Paul Lutheran (Concordia).
Cardinals soccer would fall in that contest by a margin of 2-4, taking 2nd place in their second tournament action of the season.
Following up their strong tournament effort the Cardinals would split their next two contests, falling short to St. Michael the Archangel 0-8 but dispatching Lone Jack 4-3 in a tough fought match that required minutes beyond regulation.
With the win against Lone Jack, the Cardinals soccer September tally went to 3-3 in six contests, splitting the action to reach .500 through the month so far.
It’s an impressive bounce-back for this young Cardinals squad who looks to carry their early-fall momentum with them this next week as they enter the Bolivar Liberator Classic looking to secure another title shot and pull above .500 for the month.
