The Soccer Cards won two games on Homecoming Day, Friday, Oct. 1. Playing in the Willard Tournament at 11 a.m. the Cards beat Lebanon 5-1. Derek McCormack and Brant Bremer got goals in the first half to make it 2-0. The Lebanon Yellowjackets scored a couple of minutes into the second half to make it 2-1 making things interesting. The Cardinals speed and passing skills came through. Wally Gregory scored two and Adam Walrath added a goal off a corner kick. The Cardinals controlled the flow of the game and the final score was 5-1. Coach Adams commented he was proud of how his team responded to the Lebanon goal at the start of the half.
The Cardinal soccer team also supplied the Homecoming game by playing the Green Ridge Tigers Friday night at the Cardinal Stadium. The HC crowd was huge which was a real treat for all involved. The Cards got two quick goals from Wally Gregory and Brant Bremer. The Royal Court was crowned at half time.
Gregory added a third goal late in the second half to make it 3-0. The Tigers kept clawing and squeaked out a goal with .5 seconds left in the game. The final score was 3-1 Cards. A great 2021 Cardinal Homecoming. The Cards traveled back to Willard on Saturday morning to play two more games only to have them canceled due to field conditions. The 7-3 Soccer Cards travel to Odessa on Tuesday, Oct. 5 to take on the 8-4 Odessa Bulldogs.
