Cards Beat Center

Posted

The Cards in the cold, windy, rain managed to play a great game. They beat the Center Yellowjackets 5-0 on Thursday, Oct. 28. The flow of the game was balanced but slowly the Cards took control of the possession and the attacks. Brant Bremer put the Cards up 1-0 with 10 minutes left in the half. Wally Gregory blasted one in the back of the net and made it 2-0 at the half. The Dance Team and the Cardinal Pride Band braved the weather and performed at halftime. Brant Bremer added the Cardinals’ third goal early in the second half. Gregory, not to be outdone made it 4-0. Remember all this was happening in a cold rain. Derek McCormack advanced the ball and saw Keaton Townsend on a run and hit him perfectly. Townsend finished the run and beat the Yellowjacket goalie and made it 5-0. I was informed that it was Keaton’s birthday. So a win on Senior night and on your birthday. It can’t get much better than that. A big spotlight on the Cardinal defense for getting another shutout. The Cardinal backline is usually anchored by Dylan Bloom, Noah Adams and Evan Mantonya with help from Garrett Dunn and Caden McCartney. This was the last game in the regular season as the Cards finished with a record of 12-7. They will play in the first round of District play on Saturday, Oct. 30 in Springfield. They will play Greenwood.
