Cardinal Football Toughs It Out On The Road

Posted

Cardinals Football (0-4) travelled to Oak Grove (0-4) this past Friday in a battle that would determine which team would secure their first win of the season.
Both teams, each looking to break four game slides, were geared up for this one. Unfortunately, for what has been gritty and deserving Cardinals team all year, a fast start from the Panthers would be their undoing as Oak Grove was able to grind their way to five scores on the ground before Cardinals Football was able to finally find their groove in the second quarter with a 5-yard scamper from wide receiver Cameron Mertz before the break bring the deficit the Cardinals faced to 35-6 at intermission.
After the break, Oak Grove was able to add another score on the ground in what would be the only score of the third quarter.
In the fourth quarter, the Panthers would add an interception return for a touchdown, with the final tally of the game going to the Cardinals by way of land with a 3-yard dash to paydirt by Markus Oliver. Cardinals Football, now 0-5 on the year, advances to homecoming week with motivation, as the squad next takes on their home-turf Missouri Military Academy (0-5).
