Battle Of The Birds, Cards Fall Short

The Cardinal softball team hosted the Marshall Owls on Monday, Aug. 30. The gamed served as the teams’ annual fundraiser event for kids with cancer. The players wore gold shoelaces to honor our local kids battling cancer. The Cards got behind early but fought back and went up briefly over the Owls 8-7 after fifth inning. The Cards could not hold the Owls down and ended up losing 12-8. Cardinal catcher Allie Goucher had to leave the game with a injury.  Raynee Sublette took over the catching duties. The Cardinal starting pitcher Briley Wishard got some relief help in the seventh inning from Kendel Bohannan. The Cardinals are now 1-4 on the year. They travel to P. Hill to take on the Chicks on Thursday, Aug. 2. The Monday game lineup was: Pitcher- Briley Wishard, Catcher- Allie Goucher, 1st Base- Chloe Evans, 2nd- Makenna Goth, 3rd- Bailey Jones, SS- Ava Potter, LF- Addison Markham, CF- Kalena Martinez and RF - Kayla McCanles.
