Alta Irene (Huey) Dulaban, age 76, of Clinton, Missouri passed away Wednesday, June 2nd, 2021 at Golden Valley Memorial Hospital in Clinton, Missouri.
Alta Irene (Huey) Dulaban was born in Clinton, MO on September 17, 1944 to Buford and Ivonne (Dody) Huey. She was a 1962 graduate of Clinton High School. Alta was united in marriage to Bill Walker Dulaban on May 23, 1963. And to this union two children were born. Sherrill Woirhaye and Derrell Dulaban.
She worked at Hendricks Bros. Implements for several years. In 1980 she purchased Huey’s Countryside Drive-In from Merrill and Linda Huey and served as owner/operator until 1989 when it closed due to highway construction. She and Bill then traveled to Honduras to work with Unitog from 1990 to the end of 1992. After their return, she volunteered with the Henry County Museum eventually becoming the Director until her retirement in 2010.
For many years, starting at a young age, Alta was a Sunday School Teacher and a Bible School Leader. She was a long-standing member of Northeast Baptist Church and loved to serve the Lord in any way she was called to do. One of her favorite pastimes was to spend time with her family telling stories about family and local history. She also loved the idea of preserving history for future generations. This love led her to purchase the Freedom Schoolhouse in the early 1980’s, where she had completed the final year of her elementary education. She was a member of various clubs and was an avid gardener.
Alta was preceded in death by her parents, a brother in law, Danny Vance, and a sister in law, Linda Huey. She is survived by her husband, Bill Dulaban, her two children, Sherrill (Brent) Woirhaye and Derrell (Kathy) Dulaban. A brother, Merrill Huey, and a sister, Carolyn Vance. Two sister in laws, Sharon Nold and Marilyn Dulaban Secrest. Three grandchildren, Sarah (Cole) Thomas, Carissa (Trevor) Stoneking, and Cody (Kayla) Woirhaye and six Great grandchildren, Brody and Emerson Thomas, Cason Stoneking, Lydia Diehl Tribble, and Harley and Clark Woirhaye. She is also survived by an Honorary daughter, Nicole Dinh and her daughters Danielle and Julianna, several nieces and nephews, many cousins, and a host of family and friends.
Funeral services were held June 8, 2021 at the Northeast Baptist Church, Clinton, Missouri with Rev. James Eager and Rev. Joey Conway officiating. Special music included “Who Holds Tomorrow, One Day at a Time and How Great Thou Art.” The casket bearers were Cody Woirhaye, Tim Eddy, Joey Vincent, Kent Vickers, David Martin and Wallace White. Interment followed in Englewood Cemetery, Clinton, Missouri.
Services were under the direction of Vansant-Mills Funeral Home of Clinton, Missouri.
