Abner Leaves District After 10 Years

Jason Abner will be leaving his position of Activities Director after 10 years at the Clinton School District. Abner has been approved as the new assistant principal at Sterling Elementary in Warrensburg beginning in the 2021-2022 school year.
Personally I have worked with several activity directors over the years in and out of different school districts. Jason Abner is absolutely one of the best I have known. He has done a great job helping this Sports Editor over the years. I want to publicly thank him. He was also a true ‘activities director’ giving the non-sport programs, like band and theater, equal attention. Some ADs don’t do this. I loved the way he conducted the “Meet the Cards,” the “Senior Nights,” etc.
He has overseen a $2.1 million stadium renovation, secured Clinton’s position in the Missouri River Valley Conference, and been named the 2018 MSHSAA Central Activities Director of the Year.
“Jason has done an excellent job working to create opportunities for students to participate in extracurricular activities,” said Clinton School District Superintendent Destry Brown. “Almost 80% of our students at the high school participate in at least one extra-curricular activity. He will be missed by the students, coaches and families in the district.”
Abner has ties to the Warrensburg community as an alumni of UCM and a previous Warrensburg SD staff member.
In 2006, Abner previously held a position as a behavior modification specialist at Sterling Elementary. He also coached softball and baseball. Mr. Abner is currently working on his Specialist in Educational Leadership. We wish him well.
